Started working on the carpet. Right now, it's 1024, but I'll downsize it to 512 to save memory. Looks pretty, but there's not enough detail on it to justify that resolution.

Back from the dead

After a looong time, I've made progress concerning the pillar. It took me months to figure out a proper way to show detail and geometry, and I ended up learning a lot from many mistakes. I also did the lower support stones. Next up, the small trim bricks besides the stone.

First step of the pillar: hard surface base mesh done in Max, with matcaps in Zbrush to close-in on texture proximity. Soon I'll sculpt the circling pattern on the column. There are several ways I'm thinking of to do it, be it either alphas, custom brushes or a rolling tile. We'll see.

Time to star a new idea: an interior environment based on a single image in the Avatar: The Last Airbender artbook:

I've broken down the environment in sheets already, but I'll have some figuring-out to do before it's done. I'm excited for it!

And here we have the less stellar biped project. All my mistakes, wrong shortcuts and bad techniques got their stellar performance on this piece. The face alone is a tribute to the rocky road that this was.
Still, I liked doing this piece, and I learned enough to accelerate and improve future designs. It's part of the workflow.

A semester long struggle that gave me results I could be happy to improve upon. This model benefited a lot from my mishaps and mistakes from my previous one. I might play with the layout later on. For now, it is done and shipped.

Open for thought.

Here it is. My gateway to the information galaxy.
