Added more to the structure. I need to star modeling and populating props in the scene.

Monday, November 10, 2014

After months of being absent, I'M BACK. In the meantime, I got my first, full-time, paying job in the industry at Z2Live. But, for the past month or so, like the silk worm, ever so slowly, I cocooned the idea for a new project to oil up my current-gen, PBR gears. What you see below is the first steps. More to come SOON!

Saturday, August 9, 2014

First prop of a new project. I have to do some fixes and tweaks on this one, but otherwise it should be done.

Saturday, June 14, 2014

For now, barring some minor changes and lights, this is should be final delivery for now. I'm going to start processing the pieces and assemble presentation sheets.

Friday, June 13, 2014

Added detail to the albedo and refined/detailed the metal mask. I might go a bit further with the lighting. THe hologram and material detailing of the rubber sections is what's next.

After critique, I decided to re-visit the reactor model and make something much more challenging and visually complex. Between my last update and now, this is what I have done. I now need to build the material in UE4, tweak and add specific lights, maximize the hologram, and I might be calling a it done then.

Tuesday, June 3, 2014

Added the hologram with a new version of the material. It glows strong.

Monday, June 2, 2014

In-progress shot of the new reactor hologram, since it's the hero prop of the scene now. I want to finish it soon and move on to other details in the scene. Baking soon.

Saturday, May 31, 2014

Changed the camera angle and added a post process volume. I need to add more stuff to the scene and populate it.

Thursday, May 29, 2014

Added part of the hologram with a basic material. I gotta keep working on it and improve it to make it look sweeter.

Monday, May 26, 2014

Added the cables today. I will make variations so that can go to the wall, ceiling, floor or around the other props.

Saturday, May 17, 2014

Adding decals the old fashioned way: planes with alphas on them at a very small height off the surface they are onto. Seems to be working so far, but I need to weather them more.

Wednesday, April 16, 2014

I'm slowly understanding the new physically-based approach to the materials. Turns out, there are very specific values that have to kept in mind when building them. More soon.

Sunday, April 6, 2014

Added the holographic projector. The cap has no material yet, as it has to be something really special to sell the effect.

Added a floor grating texture with a basic material set-up.I'll add some parallax displacement later on, with perhaps some vertex painting to chip away the paint at the edges.

Thursday, April 3, 2014

More pipes for your buck. I think that's enough for now. Time to move to the grating, perhaps.

Wednesday, April 2, 2014

Started adding pipes modeled after the trim sheet. Slowly iterating on the materials as well.

After a looooong while of no updates, the release of UE4 has offered a new power to the process of environment creation. Part of my absence was also due to my current internship at Camouflaj, the makers of the hit iOS title Republique. Check it out on the app store!
Part of the challenge now is learning the completely new way and workflow for creating materials. It's slow gains, but exciting.
